Frequently Asked Questions
Connection
How do I connect the CIP to the car?
The CIP is connected to the car via the OBD-II connector. This is usually located to the left or lower right near the steering column or in the center console.
Can I use the CIP without connecting it to a car?
No, that is not possible. The CIP is powered via the OBD-II connector.
Connecting to the Internet
How do I use the CIP?
Connect the CIP to the car’s OBD-II connector, connect the CIP to the internet (WiFi or wired), and then select a CIP service via the CIP app (CIP.obd.help). See the quick start guide (PDF or video) for detailed instructions.
What are the ways to connect the CIP to the internet?
The CIP can be connected via WiFi or an ethernet cable (wired).
How do I know when the CIP is ready to use?
The orange LED and green LED next to the ethernet connection will light up steadily. The lights on top will flash irregularly green.
The yellow LED by the ethernet connection is not lit
The orange LED should light up (within 30 seconds) after the CIP is connected to the OBD-II connector in the vehicle. If this does not happen, reconnect the CIP with the provided cable properly to the OBD-II connector in the vehicle. Try it in another vehicle if necessary.
If the orange LED still does not light up, it may be that a firmware update was interrupted. In that case, perform a complete reset by pressing the reset button with a reset pin or paperclip for about 1 minute. After that, all firmware updates will be performed again. Wait until the orange and green LEDs light up steadily.

4. In your browser, go to connector.help (without www).
5. Select your WiFi network, enter your password, and click Connect.
6. The green LED next to the ethernet connection will start blinking faster and then stay on steadily. The CIP is connected to your WiFi network.

Can I also use a WiFi hotspot from a smartphone?
Yes, that is possible. Enable the ‘mobile hotspot’ in your smartphone’s settings, and at step 5, on another device (laptop, tablet, or second smartphone), select this hotspot as the WiFi network. This way, you can use the CIP outside the range of your workshop’s WiFi.
Logging into the CIP app (CIP.obd.help)
How do I select a CIP service?
Connect the CIP to the vehicle’s OBD-II connector. Then go to cip.obd.help, log in with your username and password, and select the desired service from the menu.
It is also possible to purchase the desired service in advance via the Car Lock Systems webshop. When you then connect the CIP to the vehicle, you will find the purchased service as a ‘ticket proposal’ in the menu.

CIP Services
Which CIP services are available for this vehicle?
When you connect the CIP to the car, you can see which services are available in the menu of cip.obd.help.
The desired service is not listed
The desired service is not available for the selected vehicle.
What is the price of the CIP service?
The price is listed with the CIP service in the CIP.obd.help menu. If additional tasks, such as reading a PIN code, are required during the execution of the CIP service, they will be added to the selected CIP service. If it turns out that you have chosen the wrong CIP service, this will be adjusted for you, and the price of the CIP service will change.
CIP and CIP Lite
What are the additional features of the CIP compared to the CIP Lite?
The CIP is equipped with a read ring, allowing you to program ‘code-2 car keys’ without factory pre-coding with the CIP. These keys usually have to be ordered by chassis number (VIN), but Car Lock Systems offers an attractive alternative in the form of (self-developed) car keys and remote controls.
For which brands and models do you supply these (self-developed) car keys and remote controls?
For certain VAG (Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen) models and certain Fiat (and Fiat-based) models, such as the Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Opel Combo, Ford Ka (2nd generation), and Opel Combo. You can recognize these keys during ordering by the pre-coding logo.
SERMI
Do I need a SERMI certificate to have a key programmed?
Yes, you need a SERMI certificate if the vehicle manufacturer requires it. Without a SERMI certificate, certain security-related services may not be available for you to perform with the CIP.
